Ease In To Meditation: A Movement-Based Mindfulness Course

May 30, 2023 @ 9:00 am - July 18, 2023 @ 5:00 pm UTC-7

This is an 8-week Intro-to-Mindfulness course, where you will learn the basic principles and techniques of Mindfulness Meditation…but in movement FIRST.

Why? Because conscious movement is a wonderful, embodied method for learning mindfulness skills. And, it’s often a more practical starting point than long sessions of sitting in stillness.

A movement-based mindfulness course might be for you if:

– You tend to feel too restless or anxious for sitting meditation
– You feel like you never have time to slow down and meditate
– Tension, aches, and pains have held you back from meditating
– You’re a kinesthetic learner who likes to explore new ideas by doing

When you combine movement and mindfulness, you also gain some extra benefits for the body, brain, and nervous system – these practices are more powerful together!

The Mindful Movement practices in this course will be drawn from Qigong, Gentle Yoga, and Somatics, because each of these styles has something unique to offer our body-mind exploration. You do not need to be especially fit or nimble to keep up – these movements will be very approachable and adaptable. The intention behind Mindful Movement is more about getting you out of your head and into your body (rather than impressing anyone with your photo-worthy acrobatics).

This course is designed to help you ease in to meditation, with support, and at your own pace. You can practice along with us each week, at whatever time is best for you.

Starting May 30th, you’ll receive an email each Tuesday (for 8 weeks) containing:

– Short Mindfulness video lesson (5-10 mins), explaining the theme of the week
– Mindful Movement + Meditation Practice (20-40 mins), putting the lesson into action
– Bonus “reset” practices and guided meditations
– Prompts for reflection, journaling, or exploring mindfulness “on the fly” in your daily life.

Are you ready to learn mindfulness through movement? When you understand what it actually feels like to be present, and you have an idea of what meditation focal points and postures work best for you, you can actually start to gain traction in your practice. Let’s get started!
