Hi, I'm Michelle, owner and teacher at Meditation Sunshine Coast in Australia. I am passionate about teaching people the benefits of living mindfully and practising meditation to stop feeling overwhelmed, learn to manage stress, live more peacefully and become more calmer, focussed and productive. Like many people I came to meditation during a challenging period of my life. I was overwhelmed with day to day responsiblities, in chronic pain and drinking too much until I hit rock bottom. I knew I needed to find something that not just relieved my stress levels but stopped me getting to them in the first place. And so I began what I thought was meditating but I couldn't sit still for more than five minutes or count up to ten breaths! I found trying to learn through an app or on my own just wasn't working and so I began studying meditation and learning it from experienced teachers and educators. I have completed numerous quaifications in teaching meditation and mindfulness to adults, teens and kids, as well as youth psychology and counselling. I ran my own studio teaching mindfulness meditation classes, programs and workshops to kids, teens and adults on the Sunshine Coast. Now my focus is on workshops and training programs in the workplace, high schools, school camps and one on one coaching as well as online courses, making mindfulness and meditation accessible to everyone. Prior to being a mindfulness and meditation educator and teacher I was an events manager. Before COVID I managed events for high profile speakers such as Brene Brown, Malala Yousafzai, Simon Sinek, Jim Collins and the Obamas, so I understand high pressure roles, work related stress and the impact it can have on your health and relationships. I credit my mindfulness meditation practise for the high level of productivity, organisation and communication skills required for that role, as well as the ability to remain focussed and calm throughout. I enjoy bringing the practical applications of mindfulness and meditation to the workplace and home, to demonstrate the profound mental, emotional and physical benefits it can have in your day to day life.
