From a young age, I've enjoyed helping others. Early on, helping involved being a strong listener and offering compassion and encouragement. A desire to become more effective at helping led me to pursue the education needed to become a Psychologist. I began studying Psychology in 1994 as an undergraduate at Penn State University. In 2005, I completed a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology also from Penn State. opened my private practice in 2007 where my clinical work has focused on helping college students and adults. As a therapist, I am empathic, encouraging and challenging, assisting clients in making changes. I offer more than just a good listening ear, providing suggestions and strategies for addressing your struggles. I use a variety of proven approaches, best knowledge, and experience to help clients. In 2005, I became curious about mindfulness as an approach to reduce suffering and increase joy . I began training and practicing, which led to offering mindfulness groups for college students. I completed the certificate program from the Institute for Meditation and Psychotherapy, and have become a trained Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy facilitator. I practice daily in an effort to stay grounded for myself, family, and clients. I continue to be a student of mindfulness, always interested in growing, and will be completing the Comprehensive Trauma Sensitive Mindfulness Training in 2024.
