Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)- 8 Week Program

February 25, 2024 @ 7:00 pm - April 14, 2024 @ 8:30 pm UTC+0

What is MBCT?
MBCT is an evidence based program that spans over 8 weeks and combines mindfulness meditations and aspects of cognitive therapy for prevention of relapse for those who have had depression or anxiety in the past and are well now. Participants learn to apply the insights from the practice to their daily lives.

MBCT is more than a relapse prevention program. It is a whole new way of being.

MBCT is emerging as one of the fastest growing mindfulness based interventions. The UK National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) has endorsed MBCT as an effective treatment for prevention of relapse. Research has shown participants develop improved efficacy in recognizing habitual patterns of mind.

MBCT will help you to :
-understand habitual patterns of the mind and choose another way of being
-notice depressive cycles before they occur
-engage with your mind and life with greater intimacy and kindness

Who is it for?
It is particularly helpful in preventing relapse of depression and anxiety but has been found to be applicable to other clinical conditions as well.

Structure of the Program:
-The group comes together once a week for 1.5 hours for 8 sessions.
-During the class, participants learn the practice of mindfulness meditation and its application to depression and anxiety.
-It is supplemented by home practice in between sessions to deepen the learning.
-It also includes psychoeducation and aspects from cognitive therapy that shows the link between thinking and feeling, and how best the participants can look after themselves when depression cycles begin.

Dates: Sundays from February 25th, 2024 onward
Time: 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM IST
