Celebrating the Solstice: Resting in Darkness, Turning Toward Light

December 18, 2023 @ 8:00 pm - 9:15 pm UTC-4

Donation-based

I’m offering this virtual meditation gathering to celebrate the winter solstice. This beautiful, often busy time of year can evoke a mix of emotions—hope, joy, sorrow, stress, love, loneliness, nostalgia, disappointment, gratitude. All this and more, sometimes all of it at once! In this gathering, we’ll slow down for a while, reflect and reconnect with the meaning and spirit of this time, whatever that means for you. We’ll also take some time to take stock of the year and reflect on anything you want to let go of. What do you want to leave behind so you can start the new year lighter, with more clarity?

The class includes a short talk and reflection on the natural and cultural significance of this time, a guided meditation, and time to share or journal. If you wish, bring a candle and something to write with; a piece of red jasper or howlite (or any other stone or crystal you love); a picture of a spiritual figure; some cinnamon, clove or an orange; an amaryllis; a pinecone, mistletoe or evergreen branch—anything that connects you to this season and that symbolizes light, warmth and new beginnings.

Please register if you’d like to attend. I look forward to seeing you!

I offer these classes freely and also gratefully accept support for my teaching via Venmo (@Laura-Smith-1050), PayPal (@laurasmith1587) or Zelle (lsmith2023@gmail.com).
