Branch Training: Deeper Mindfulness: Exploring Feeling Tone Frame by Frame

February 28, 2024 @ 1:00 pm - April 10, 2024 @ 2:30 pm GMT

£200

During the six 1.5 hour sessions, Tim and Liz will offer teachings and practices that give new insights based on the recently developed Feeling Tone programme described in Deeper Mindfulness. The 8-week course you will be trained to teach is designed as a follow-on for participants who are familiar with mindfulness practice through having done a course of MBSR, MBCT or related programmes/retreats. Buddhist traditions see feeling tone (vedana) as a fundamental element of every moment of experience and a foundational aspect of mindfulness and its practice. Feeling tone is implicit throughout any MBSR or MBCT programme, and this course makes it explicit. Learning specific practices to help us become aware of feeling tone allows us to move in close and see clearly the very instant where we are at risk of becoming caught up in pursuing or rejecting something and are likely to become entangled in emotional distress. The programme provides an opportunity to see how the awareness of feeling tone reveals and then unlocks the habits of conditioning that would usually keep us trapped. Running from Wednesdays: 28/02/2024, 06/03, 13/03, 20/03, WEEK BREAK, 03/04, 10/04/2024 – 13:00 – 14:30 UK Time.

PLEASE NOTE: The UK time zone changes during this course. The UK is currently in Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) and changes to British Summer Time (BST) on last Sunday in March. Sessions 1-4 will be on GMT, and the remaining sessions will be on BST. Please ensure you check the timings of this course and how this corresponds to your own time zone.

The OMF provides Confirmation of Attendance letters to all participants who attend and take part in all aspects of 100% of the training event, including break out rooms. During training all cameras are required to be turned on.

This branch training is open to experienced mindfulness teachers – Normally this means trained to teach 8 week courses via a recognised 12 month teacher training programme in-person or live online.

However, if you are an experienced, specialist mindfulness teacher from a different tradition, operating in accordance with relevant good practice guidelines for mindfulness teachers, and are affiliated with / supported by one of the major internationally-recognised mindfulness teacher training centres, please provide full details of this in your application form for us to consider. There are some places available for specialist mindfulness teachers with access to populations that are not currently well served or have limited access to mindfulness.

It is a pre-requisite of joining this training that you have taken part as a participant in the 8 week course itself before learning to teach it. You can sign up for an 8 week course here: https://courses.oxfordmindfulness.org/courses/category/learn/deepermindfulness/

You will also need to have available a copy of the book the book Deeper-Mindfulness- The New Way to Rediscover Calm in a Chaotic World by Mark Williams and Danny Penman and have read chapters 5 & 6 in advance of the teacher training programme. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Deeper-Mindfulness-Rediscover-Chaotic-World-ebook/dp/B0BRV3W8KB
