Teacher
Helen is a qualified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teacher with a deep passion for practices that gently soften our inner knots through compassion and curiosity.

Based in Auroville, India—a global community dedicated to human unity and conscious living—Helen offers MBSR courses (in 8-week and intensive 1-week formats), Mindfulness Kindfulness retreats, and workshops exploring mindfulness practices.

For the past 20 years, Helen has explored the synthesis between emerging neuroscience and ancient contemplative wisdom, both through personal practice and in sharing these insights with others. Her journey into mindfulness and loving-kindness began with the forest monks of Thailand. She has since studied with teachers from the Tibetan Buddhist, Shambhala and Insight Meditation traditions, attended Vipassana courses and Zen sesshins, and undertaken extended personal retreats. Living in Auroville she also explores (on a daily basis) how mindful awareness and compassion can be integrated into all aspects of life.

Her passion for a more compassionate world has led her to explore how mindfulness and wellbeing science can be meaningfully shared and lived. She volunteered with Action for Happiness in London, then established Action for Happiness Australia, where she led courses, events, and community-building initiatives. In Auroville, she led a research project exploring the impact of kindness interventions within this diverse community.

Originally from the UK, Helen has taught MBSR and mindfulness-based courses in healthcare centres, workplaces, and community settings in India and Australia. She holds the Certificate in Foundations of Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness and is a qualified yoga teacher. Her background as a trained facilitator—designing and delivering courses from sustainable urban design to project management—brings a grounded, practical dimension to her teaching.
