Retreat: Drinking deeply from the well of mindfulness together: an online retreat for mindfulness-based supervisors

October 1, 2023 @ 1:30 pm - October 5, 2023 @ 12:30 pm BST

£370

Who is the Retreat for?

This online practice retreat is suitable for mindfulness-based supervisors who:

have a long-standing mindfulness practice
have taught MBPs for a number of years
have completed a two to three day mindfulness-based supervision training, or equivalent.
The retreat is open to anyone who meets these requirements and is particularly intended for those who are integrating mindfulness-based supervision into their professional work. We welcome applications from outside of the UK.

What’s involved?

This five day online retreat offers a unique opportunity to deepen your personal mindfulness practice alongside other experienced supervisors and explore mindfulness-based supervision within a retreat context.

A core intention is to offer a supportive structure and atmosphere within which each of us can explore our own experience with the freshness of beginner’s mind, through formal practices (sitting, walking, movement, including an emphasis on compassion-based practices), and informal practice time.

The retreat will also offer some interpersonal mindfulness practice, encouraging us to bring mindful awareness to our experience of interacting with another, as we contemplate themes around mindfulness-based supervision. This will be complemented by a small number of talks from the teachers inviting further exploration of the themes of the retreat. By bringing inquiry into our experience of mindfulness based supervision into a retreat context we hope to create a space which allows a deepening of insight both about supervision and being a supervisor.

We will lightly hold a mindfulness-based supervision framework as a structure for the residential, but the core curriculum will be the immediacy of personal experience.

The retreat will include:

periods of both guided and self-directed practice
times of interpersonal practice linking with supervision themes
small group meeting to reflect on practice
short talks
periods of silence to enable participants to connect more fully with their inner experience
an encouragement to use the time between the scheduled sessions for informal practice
an optional evening practice
The overall container of the retreat will be one of simplicity and quiet: a chance to be in a community with like-minded people without the need to be anyone in particular.

We acknowledge that the container for an online retreat may need to be a little different from in a residential setting, and there may be times of non-silence when you need to be in communication with those you live with. We encourage you to think in advance and be creative in how you set up your space for the retreat.

Bio

The Mindfulness Network is a registered charity. We serve the mindfulness community and general public through supervision, retreats and training courses delivered both in-person and via our online platform - the Mindfulness Network Community site. The Mindfulness Network Community Friends (MNCF) is an initiative to engage the wider mindfulness community and reach new audiences through donation-based events and opportunities to practice. Led by a Committee of Volunteers, supported by the Mindfulness Network, we work together to run a programme of events and inspiring content. By developing mindfulness and compassion both internally and through our services, the Mindfulness Network has the intention to reduce/alleviate human suffering, promote well-being and create the conditions in which people, communities and the planet, can flourish. We aim to bring together highly-trained mindfulness-based supervisors, retreat leaders and teacher trainers who all work within Good Practice Standards set out by the British Association of Mindfulness-Based Approaches (BAMBA).
