Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy for cancer: Masterclass
March 12, 2026 @ 9:30 am - 4:30 pm GMT
£99

This one-day masterclass will offer an opportunity to learn about the underpinnings of the eight-week mindfulness course, MBCT for Cancer.
What is covered?
The masterclass will involve exploring the main themes of the MBCT for Cancer (MBCT-Ca) course. This includes exploring and explaining:
The Four Movements of Intention, Coming Back, Turning Towards, and Kindness. MBCT-Ca turns towards sensations in the body, which some might find surprising as it is the body that has let people with cancer down. So the body is a focus in the programme; arguably more than other MBCT curricula. The group process and the experience of being in the group is another important feature of MBCT for Cancer. This is partly because there is a strong bond within people who have experienced diagnosis and treatment for cancer. So the group is very much part of how we teach this programme.
The particular emphases of MBCT-Ca includes brief practices, the body, group work and special processes. These are exercises that have been developed within the programme. They offer ways of working around understanding reactivity and using a circle chart, rather than a list for pleasant and unpleasant experience.
The day will offer the opportunity to experience some of the practices and ways of working, as well as hearing about the rewards and challenges of working with people with cancer.
Who is this for?
This workshop is for mindfulness teachers and teacher trainees who might be interested in running the eight-week, Mindfulness for Cancer course. Though it should be noted this masterclass alone will not equip you to run the eight-week course. Further training would be required for that.
