Martha Rouleau served as a committed public school science educator and assistant principal in Connecticut for over 31 years in the role of science and math teacher, department chair, and as a middle school Assistant Principal before relocating to Virginia. Trained initially as a marine biologist, Martha’s love of science drew her to explore the field of mindfulness in 2007. Martha holds multiple certifications in mindfulness and yoga including Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Qualified Teacher, 200-hour yoga instructor, and Personal Coach through Well Coaches sponsored by The National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching. Her appreciation for the importance of resilience through social emotional skills inspired her to take mindfulness trainings such as MiSP, Mindful Schools, Mindful Leadership with the desire of impacting school districts' school climate and culture for students, faculty, and staff. Additionally, she thoroughly enjoyed offering support to parent groups with the lens of mindfulness. Martha is fascinated with the evidence based neuroscience that continues to emerge supporting the impact of mindfulness for well-being and weaves it through all of her work. Most recently, Martha has begun her role as a coach for Mindful LifeXT. Additionally, Martha serves as an Adjunct Lecturer for Mindfulness Mediation at the College of William & Mary and also for the University of Virginia's School of Education and Human and Development. Additionally, she offers additional support for staff, faculty, and students with resiliency building through mindfulness programming at both higher education institutions. In 2019, Martha founded Mindful Navigation as a way to share her skills and dedication with assisting others to learn tools to come into and stay in the present moment through mind/body awareness through formal and informal meditation techniques and mindful movement. Above all else, Martha believes in everyone’s innate capacity to tap into their inner compass, with awareness and compassion, as they navigate with focus, clarity and presence.
