September 8, 2023 @ 8:30 am - September 12, 2023 @ 4:00 pm BST

£99 – £859

This in-person event is being held in Bangor, North Wales. The event is non-residential and you will need to book your own accommodation. See below for more details.

This five-day event consists of a one-day Introductory Session, a two-day Retreat and a two-day Teacher Training. All five days are required for those wishing to train to teach this programme or, for those with a general interest, there are options to attend separate parts of this event.

** PLEASE NOTE: The Retreat and Teacher Training sessions are now FULLY BOOKED but there is the option the attend the one-day Introductory Session at Bangor University on 8th September. Click the link above to book a place. **

During the five days, Mark Williams and Antonia Sumbundu will offer teachings and practices that give new insights based on the recently developed feeling tone ‘Frame by Frame’ programme, an 8-week course exploring feeling tone (vedana) designed as a follow-on for those who are familiar with mindfulness practice through having done a course of MBSR, MBCT or related programmes/retreats.

Buddhist traditions see feeling tone (vedana) as a fundamental element of every moment of experience and a foundational aspect of mindfulness and its practice. Feeling tone is implicit throughout any MBSR or MBCT progamme, and this course makes it explicit. Learning specific practices to help us become aware of feeling tone allows us to move in close and see clearly the very instant where we are at risk of becoming caught up in pursuing or rejecting something and are likely to become entangled in emotional distress.

The programme provides an opportunity to see how the awareness of feeling tone reveals and then unlocks the habits of conditioning that would usually keep us trapped.

During these five days you will have the chance

(a) to learn about the new psychological science that shows the significance of feeling tone in perception, interpretation and action;

(b) to experience the practices from the course as they guide you through specific meditations to prepare for, then tune in to feeling tone ‘frame by frame’; to help discern the patterns of mind/body and the effects of increased awareness of the tonality of moment-to-moment experience in making wise choices;

(c) to learn to teach the core practices in the programme

Who is the event for?

The Introductory Session and two-day Retreat is designed for mindfulness teachers and trainers and those who use mindfulness in therapy, coaching or other settings. Those who want to teach the 8-week feeling tone ‘Frame by Frame’ course and elements of it in their work should attend the full five-day event.

The two-day Retreat can contribute to fulfilling the retreat requirement for mindfulness teachers who wish to be included on the BAMBA Listing of Mindfulness Teachers.

Requirements to attend:

To attend the one-day Introductory Session: An interest in mindfulness and feeling tones.

To attend the two-day Retreat: You will need to also attend the one-day Introductory Session on 8th September and have an established mindfulness practice.

To attend the two-day Teacher Training: You will need to attend the full five-day event which includes the one-day Introductory Session and the two-day Retreat. In addition, you will need to be a mindfulness-based teacher or be working in a context where you are already introducing mindfulness such as therapy or coaching. Bio

The Mindfulness Network is a registered charity. We serve the mindfulness community and general public through supervision, retreats and training courses delivered both in-person and via our online platform - the Mindfulness Network Community site. The Mindfulness Network Community Friends (MNCF) is an initiative to engage the wider mindfulness community and reach new audiences through donation-based events and opportunities to practice. Led by a Committee of Volunteers, supported by the Mindfulness Network, we work together to run a programme of events and inspiring content. By developing mindfulness and compassion both internally and through our services, the Mindfulness Network has the intention to reduce/alleviate human suffering, promote well-being and create the conditions in which people, communities and the planet, can flourish. We aim to bring together highly-trained mindfulness-based supervisors, retreat leaders and teacher trainers who all work within Good Practice Standards set out by the British Association of Mindfulness-Based Approaches (BAMBA).
