A Contemplative 4-week Course for Teens and Young Adults
June 28: Loving Kindness toward self and others
July 5: Compassion toward self and others
July 12: Appreciative Joy toward self and others
July 19: Equanimity with our own and others’ journeys (2 hours)
There are 4 powerful heart qualities that each of us can cultivate in our daily lives to bring us greater ease and well being and strengthen our mindfulness practice. These are loving kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity or inclusiveness. These boundless qualities are intrinsic to each of us and lead us to a deeply fulfilled and awakened life. Our inspiration for the framing and practices to cultivate these qualities come from the Buddhist tradition.
In this 4-week course we will explore:
The ways we protect our heart from the world
Tools for loving fully with an undefended heart
Honoring our stories and living larger than them
Practices to help us grow our hearts as wide as the world
In each class we will practice a guided meditation, learn about one of the aspects of true love, and have time for discussion. In the last class, which is 2 hours, all participants will have the opportunity to share briefly about their journeys with true love.

Tuition on a sliding scale ($40 – $150) varying by family income. No one is turned away for lack of funds.
