People of Colour Day Retreat

April 28, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - April 29, 2023 @ 5:00 pm BST

£49 – £99

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

Breathworks are excited to be holding their first day retreat for People of Colour (POC) which will be led by Associate Teacher Bodhilila Young.

Bodhilia, who hosts regular POC events at the West London Buddhist Centre, has curated a special day centred around relaxing and grounding while exploring their experience as both POC and mindfulness practitioners.

On this online day retreat, you will be led through calming meditations and mindful movement practices with space for reflection and opportunity to connect with others around individual and collective POC experiences.

As an experienced facilitator, Bodhilia will create a safe and inclusive safe in which you will be invited to share and reflect on ideas around how best to create supportive conditions for POC in the mindfulness world. The day will also be a chance to celebrate the richness and diversity within our community and within ourselves.

The retreat will start with an hour-long intro session on Friday 28 April, with the main retreat schedule commencing on Saturday 29 April. The retreat will be well-paced, with regular screen breaks throughout the day.

WHAT I WILL GAIN FROM ATTENDING

– Practise and connect with other POC mindfulness practitioners
– Drop into retreat mode from the comfort of your own home
– A supportive space to turn towards experiences with kindness and care
– A chance to identify and explore how to work with conditioning and how that impacts our practice
– A place to celebrate and appreciate our gifts and what we have to offer

COST

Ticket prices for this event range between £49 – £99. The Breathworks charity aims to make mindfulness accessible for everyone, which is why they offer multiple pricing options to those wishing to join us. They ask participants to pay the highest sustainable amount that they can, so that they can offer places at a reduced cost to those less able to afford a place.

A limited number of bursary places are reserved for individuals with significant financial barriers that limits them from affording the Concessionary Rate.
