The Peer group teaching workshop offers a dedicated space for both teachers and trainees in which to build confidence through small group teaching practice in a safe and reflective environment, supported by the Mindfulness-Based Interventions Teaching and Learning Companion (MBI-TLC) The group comes together monthly alternating between a Saturday morning and Saturday afternoon to sit, practice teaching in small groups, reflect on teaching strengths and learning edges, and to offer kindness, support, and inspiration to one another.

Part of the intention of the Peer group teaching workshop is to cultivate a shared sense of integrity and good practice within the group. In the absence of International guidelines, we ask all participants to adhere to the UK Good Practice Guidelines for Mindfulness-Based teachers. The peer-led model is intended as additional support to mindfulness teaching and training and not as an alternative to training or supervision.
The Mindfulness Network recognise the value of community and peer support in the field of mindfulness teaching and training. Connection with other teachers is invaluable in a long-term commitment to personal practice and authentic teaching. Peer reflection presents a unique opportunity to learn about oneself by listening to and learning about another. By coming along you become part of an International community of mindfulness teachers and trainees from different training and professional backgrounds. Peer support also offers reciprocal benefits and can therefore lower the financial commitment to continued professional development, CPD. This saving can transfer to lower course costs for the general public making mindfulness more accessible across social and economic boundaries.

WHO IS IT FOR?
You are eligible for the Peer Teaching Group Membership if:
• You have completed – or are in the process of completing -mindfulness teacher training with a recognised Mindfulness teacher training organisation (Not just CMRP Bangor)
• You are currently teaching and receive regular supervision from a suitably qualified Mindfulness Supervisor
• You maintain Standards as outlined in the UK Good Practice Guidelines for Mindfulness -Based teachers.

1. To facilitate a community of mindfulness teachers and trainees that support one another to uphold the integrity and meet good practice guidelines.
2. To enable mindfulness teachers to use relationships within the community as an opportunity to practice teaching, self-awareness, and common humanity.
3. To lower the financial commitment of meeting ongoing good practice requirements for the mindfulness teaching community.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Each workshop starts with a short sit of around 10 minutes to allow us time to settle and fully arrive together. We find it works best if people enter the room and join the practice in silence. This helps us to create a focused intention for our time in the space as well as make sure that we start on time! Next, we will invite you to introduce yourself by sharing your name, and context of teaching before moving into small peer groups (maximum of 3 people) to practice teaching. This can be guiding a recognised mindfulness-based practice* or practicing conveying course themes through interactive inquiry and didactic teaching.
Each group member will have the opportunity to teach the other two as participants for up to 30-minutes followed by 10-minutes of reflection through kind eyes starting with the teacher sharing teaching strengths (what do I feel comfortable with?) and learning needs (where are my edges?) and peer reflection on the experience of being a participant. We encourage you to practice mindful speaking and mindful listening, and share feedback with kindness, and compassion, in the same way as you would like to receive support. After everyone has taught, we then regroup with the invitation to share the teaching experience, with time for any questions before a short sit to end the workshop.
Honoring confidentiality, vulnerability and mutual respect allows us to create a safe space for whatever arises during the teaching practicals. We have found that it can be tremendously helpful to share so we can see that we are not alone! Peer teaching group membership can also demonstrate ongoing commitment, continued development, and adherence to good practice.

PREPARATION & REGISTRATION:
So that the workshops are available to as many mindfulness trainees and teachers as possible, we alternate each month between a morning workshop and an afternoon workshop. You only need to register once for the 2023 dates. The peer group teaching workshops will run in accordance with the MNCF Guidance for Facilitators. This provides an opportunity for members to practice / demonstrate skills relating to the Mindfulness-Based teaching with kindly reflection around the MBI-TLC in a supportive environment.
Please prepare a maximum of 30-minutes of mindfulness-based teaching before the workshop. It can be helpful to bring along a copy of the Teaching and Learning Companion to refer to during the reflection. To download a copy, follow the link to the MNCF website.
