Online – Thursday 8 week course: Finding peace in a Frantic World

March 4, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - April 22, 2021 @ 7:30 pm UTC

Susie Stead is a freelance mindfulness teacher, trained and certified by the Oxford Mindfulness Centre (OMC) and is registered with The British Association for Mindfulness Based Approaches (BAMBA).

OMC Teaching Partner Susie Stead runs a regular mindfulness drop-in in Headington (now on-line)

This programme is based on the best-selling book, Mindfulness: Finding Peace in Frantic World. It is a highly accessible, engaging and practical introduction to mindfulness. We have developed a programme that teaches mindfulness skills and how to use these skills to improve wellbeing and resilience to stress. It has been found to be effective with adults in workplaces, University students and school teachers.

The course’s themes include: waking up to the life you have, gathering the scattered mind, relating differently to thoughts and worries, practising kindness, and nourishing activities.

This course is for anyone who wants a structured, practical, and highly accessible introduction to mindfulness. It is appropriate for people new to mindfulness, anyone who has tried mindfulness apps or perhaps read a book and wants the structure of a course led by an experienced teacher.

Dates: Thursday evenings, March 4th – April 22nd from 6.00pm to 7.30pm. There will also be a half day retreat on Saturday April 10th.

The Oxford Mindfulness Centre, within the Department of Psychiatry, University of Oxford, has been at the forefront of mindfulness research and training since 2008. At the Oxford Mindfulness Centre (OMC) our mission is to reduce suffering, promote resilience and realise human potential across the lifespan through mindfulness. Its work is supported through a collaborative agreement between the University of Oxford and an independent not-for-profit charity, the Oxford Mindfulness Foundation (OMF). The mission is accomplished through robust training programmes and a range of accessibility initiatives all informed and shaped by rigorous scientific research. The OMC works to advance the understanding of evidence based mindfulness through research, publication, training and advocacy. We engage in: Research – undertaking world leading academic research and initiatives to promote mindfulness in the wider community. Training – we offer training in how to become an MBCT teacher and a programme of continuing professional development. Teaching – we offer introductory MBCT courses, open to all, throughout the year. Charitable initiatives – we actively work to make MBCT accessible to all.
