Mindful Self-Compassion 5-day intensive residential course

Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) is an evidence-based training programme designed to support you develop skills of relating more compassionately to yourself and hence to others too. Based on the groundbreaking research of Kristin Neff and the clinical expertise of Chris Germer, MSC teaches principles and practices that enable you to respond constructively to difficult moments in your life with kindness, care and understanding.

Self-compassion can be learned by anyone, even if you didn’t receive much affection in childhood or if you feel uncomfortable being kind to yourself. It supports you in developing the courage to stand up to harm, which includes the harm that we unwittingly inflict on ourselves through self-criticism, negative self-talk and ‘pushing’ ourselves through life’s challenges. Self-compassion provides emotional strength and resilience, helping us to admit our shortcomings, motivate ourselves with kindness, forgive ourselves when we need to, relate wholeheartedly to others, and to be more authentically ourselves.

Rapidly growing research shows self-compassion is strongly linked with emotional wellbeing, less anxiety, depression and stress, and with developing healthy habits and more satisfying relationships.

The course includes guided meditation practices, short talks, experiential exercises, group discussion, and informal practices. It takes place over 5 days and covers all material from the 8 classes and retreat session just like the weekly course. Accommodation is in single rooms, and the booking includes delicious breakfasts, lunch and dinner + other refreshments each day, full use of the whole retreat centre including indoor swimming pool, and beautiful countryside surroundings.
