Meditation as Support for White Anti-Racist Action Online Course

October 19, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - November 30, 2020 @ 8:30 pm UTC+0

$60 – $150

Investigating Our Whiteness and Conditioning
A Contemplative 6-week Course for All Ages
Mondays, October 19 – November 30
7-8:30pm EST, Online via Zoom

This course is for all white folks who want to show up better, and more fully in solidarity and action with people of color in the work for justice. Using meditation as a support we will investigate whiteness and the different ways that racism lives within all white people in an inherently oppressive culture.

The content of this course will consist of relevant weekly media assignments that will prepare us for group sessions and include meditation, activities, and theories inspired by the work and teachings of Ruth King, Rhonda McGee, Lama Rod Owens, Ibram X. Kendi, Sonya Renee Taylor, Resma Menakem, and a multitude of other black teachers and activists leading the cause for freedom. We engage fully in this work of reclaiming our humanity in an effort to actively and wisely serve the need for justice in our world.

Please prepare to show up brave, imperfect, and engaged. The work that we do in this course will be grounded in the body, exploring difficult emotions, feelings and trauma and their manifestation in the body. We wholeheartedly welcome anyone interested in this content to participate, and if you are concerned about your capacity to work with the body in this way, please reach out to learn better if this course will be appropriate. All proceeds will be given to grassroots organizations doing on-the-ground anti-racism work in communities.
