How do we come to know ourselves, to feel comfortable in our own skin and to understand how we move through the world?
Join me in this class as we take a mindful journey into our nervous system. Through mindful “felt-sense”awareness, focused attention, curiosity and mindful somatic inquiry, we will explore our similar but unique nervous systems. We will view our nervous system through the lens of Polyvagal Theory (the work of Dr. Stephen Porges and Deb Dana, LCSW) and learn powerful skills to acknowledge our bio-individuated systems and improve our capacity to shape and shift our experience. The information and practices I will offer have been some of the most important and life changing skills that I and my clients have experienced over the 20 years of my work as a trauma therapist.
The class will meet for two hour sessions over the course of four weeks so that you have time to practice. At the end of the course, you will understand how how your sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system activity affects your life and learn mindfulness practices to modulate and regulate your day to day experience. Recorded meditations are offered for your practice in between sessions.
You are not at the mercy of your nervous system. You may be currently experiencing anxiety, sadness, sleeplessness, inability to focus or other challenges that you feel are impossible to shift. Understanding your nervous system and your innate ability to shape your inner states is a game changer. You truly have the capacity to improve the quality of your life.
