June 6, 2025 @ 9:30 am - June 10, 2025 @ 4:00 pm BST

This five-day event consists of a one-day Introductory Session, a two-day Retreat and a two-day Teacher Training. All five days are required for those wishing to train to teach this programme or, for those with a general interest, there are options to attend separate parts of this event.
This in-person event is being held in Bangor. The event is non-residential and you will need to book your own accommodation. See below for more details.
During the five days, Mark Williams and Antonia Sumbundu will offer teachings and practices that give new insights based on the recently developed Deeper Mindfulness: programme, an 8-week course exploring feeling tone (vedana) designed as a follow-on for those who are familiar with mindfulness practice through having done a course of MBSR, MBCT or related programmes/retreats.
Buddhist traditions see feeling tone (vedana) as a fundamental element of every moment of experience and a foundational aspect of mindfulness and its practice. Feeling tone is implicit throughout any MBSR or MBCT programme, and this course makes it explicit. Learning specific practices to help us become aware of feeling tone allows us to move in close and see clearly the very instant where we are at risk of becoming caught up in pursuing or rejecting something and are likely to become entangled in emotional distress.
The programme provides an opportunity to see how the awareness of feeling tone reveals and then unlocks the habits of conditioning that would usually keep us trapped.
During these five days you will have the chance
(a) to learn about the new psychological science that shows the significance of feeling tone in perception, interpretation and action;
(b) to experience the practices from the course as they guide you through specific meditations to prepare for, then tune in to feeling tone ‘frame by frame’; to help discern the patterns of mind/body and the effects of increased awareness of the tonality of moment-to-moment experience in making wise choices;
(c) to learn to teach the core practices in the programme
Who is the event for?
The Introductory Session and two-day Retreat is designed for anyone with an interest in mindfulness and feeling tones, including mindfulness teachers and trainers and those who use mindfulness in therapy, coaching or other settings.
The full five day event is for those who want to teach the 8-week feeling tone Deeper Mindfulness course and elements of it in their work.
There are options below to apply for all five days or separate parts of this event.
The two-day Retreat can contribute to fulfilling the retreat requirement for mindfulness teachers who wish to be included on the BAMBA Listing of Mindfulness Teachers.
