Teacher
Mary was moved to teach mindfulness after experiencing the subtle and profound shifts in her own inner and outer life as a result of her practice. She began her formal training over a decade ago, becoming Mindful Schools-Certified. She then turned her attention to Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and adults, and is certified to teach MBSR by Brown University's Mindfulness Center. She is also a certified trauma-sensitive practitioner (through David Treleaven) and has earned a certification in Imagination Leadership Training. She incorporates imagination, creativity, and futures thinking in her work. Mary teaches both online and in-person, frequently offering sets of free Drop-ins to accommodate various time zones, as well as virtual mini-retreats. She's the former Chief Learning Officer for a corporate training company for the financial services industry that specializes in life transitions, the creator of the popular 8-week course, Mindfulness for Financial Advisors: Practicing a New Way of Being, the author of the book by the same name, and a frequent speaker. Mary and Julie Fortin, CFP®, FBS®, CeFT®, co-author a quarterly column on well-being for the Journal of Financial Planning, and Mary sits on its Editorial Advisory Board. She earned her doctorate from New York University's School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. She does not find social media to be particularly healthy in its current state, and can be reached through email, phone, her website, or LinkedIn.
