Hello Beloveds on the MSC path! I teach Mindful Self Compassion both online and in nature, leading at least 3 8-week Mindful Self Compassion courses per year (in a mix of online, in-person and Intensive since COVID-19 entered our communal lives). I love leading Mindful Self Compassion Intensives, Mindfulness & Compassion in Nature retreats, and Ecological Self Leadership practices for building compassion and resilience in the face of climate change. I have had the joy of working as an academic psychologist (Texas A&M College of Medicine Assistant Professor in Psychiatry and Behavioral Science) and professional discipline leader (Chief of Psychology at Royal Ottawa Health Care Group) AND my first love is supporting the growth and well-being of sentient beings through psychotherapy, contemplative practice, teaching, and clinical supervision. At present I work with colleagues who share my practice orientation at Ottawa River Psychology & Ottawa River Integrative Mental health in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Our clinical work is dedicated to mindfulness, compassion and evidence based treatments commonly described as the Third Wave of Psychology and Psychotherapy. These approaches include but are not limited to Process-based CBT, ACT, CFT and Internal Family Systems work. I was drawn to mindful self compassion practice and MSC teacher training as a way to support the natural development of wisdom qualities of the heart-mind once focus and equanimity are established in mindfulness training. I love the body and the cultivation of embodiment (RYT200 yogi - I do not teach in studios) through movement, with mindfulness yoga teacher training from Spirit Rock Meditation Center (Mindfulness Yoga and Meditation Teacher training 2 year program). I have an ongoing love affair with movement in nature through hiking, rowing, and weight training. In my own contemplative life I am guided by teachers Thanissara and Kittisaro of the Sacred Mountain Sangha, Mark Coleman (Awake in the Wild and senior Spirit Rock teacher), and both Theravadan (Luong Por Viradhammo) and Mahayana (Plum Village) lineages . I am an Awake in the Wild Facilitator, and integrate MSC with Ecological Awareness in a process called Ecological Self Leadership. I hope we have an opportunity to practice together. "Wake up. Fall in love. Stay there."
